85 300D for $1K
Drives and runs great except the hood won't open.
I semi know the seller...trust he isn't hiding anything. Worth it?

How is the rust, and what was the maintenance frequency?

Hood
Yeah, I would make sure you get the hood open and check it over real well before you hand over the cash. Seems like a good price though if it is in half-way decent operating condition and not a rust bucket. What kind of mileage is on the clock?

85 300D
Minor rust at usual places. 278K Same owner since 120K Drove her up to ~85 shifts fine drives straight. Usual climate control issues (wrong vents...a/c compressor kicks in but air is warm) door locks work. Pulled on latch to open the hood to hear cable snap.

I'd say go for it. I'm getting a 1980 SD with 310k but the best part is it was a one-owner with all the service records. Needs the basics, like I think the servo's toast and it needs a new rack damper bolt, and there's a vacuum leak somewhere. They also want $1K for it and I'm snatching it because it is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Pics to come in a couple of days when I get it home.
