Why would you want to do that?....its hard to imagine your mother letting you do that to her car....
Why don't you install a new benz engine....seems like anything else would compromise the car.

I belive the gentleman is tired of the Benz auto period.
what lies ahead of him under the hood of a bently is enough to make me shudder, that is why I recomend a (Rolls or Bently)with a large simple gas guzzling Chevy engine lots of the Rolls Bently models used GM trannys "A simple bolt in perhaps?"
there is a whole industry in Cal. that puts small block chevys in Jag sedans. Then again I noticed that he did not mention the model or year of his mothers car I wouldn't trade a hanger full of "British wonderment" for my 81 SD or 74 240D as with wine there are good years and not so good years .The Cholls will be for my wife......
William Rogers.......

just looked at the heading "350 SD" wasn't that a year when
the grapes had bent stems?

You got me all wrong

Guys...it's not a bentley engine or conversion I want to do, it's simply the name BRAND of good MANUALS. CHILTON and HAYNES are just as confusing as the overhaul, So i preferr something as good as, or par to, the MB dealership uses.
Yes william......I have a 350sd 91....arrggghhhh!!!

I think you need to consult to pro techs on the tech forum they have given much advise on that engine The + or -$200 MB set of shop manuals is whole different bird than Haynes or Childrens........

You can buy the MB manual on CD from our host here. I think they run about $120 and it covers all of the manuals for your car. Or you could try and find someone on e-bay that is selling them. I don't believe any outside publisher has the rights to selling manuals for the "newer" Benzes. Haynes prints a manual for the W123 chassis which is from '76-'85, but don't print one for my chassis, W116 which ran from '73-'80. For those who don't know, Bentley Publishing is out of Cambridge, MA. They don't publish anything on Benzes. They primarily cover Audi/VW, BMW, Bosch systems etc. They actually have the exclusive rights for publishing all the newer Audi/VW manuals/CDs.

Thanks RickJ--that's what I was looking for

I guess I'll buy that....I hope the CD will have diagnosis/trouble shooting ideas and tips, as other manuals have.....With schematic blow ups of parts assemblies.
Does anyone know what Chassis Type a 91 350sd is?

Thanks.............lotsa dumb questions still coming...

1991 was the last year for the W126 chassis. As far as troubleshooting guides go, there may be some. For my chassis, the CD manual does cover some common problems, like various glowplug problems. There is a complete section, 7 "pages" worth, on the oil cirulating system. So these manuals are very thorough. I don't know how different the manual for the W126 is from my W116. MB may of change the way the books were written. BTW the CD is basicly a "photo copy" of the paper version.

William, thank you. That was a can of furniture polish, Old English. I was just trying to get more luster out of the wood. I now use Johnson furniture paste wax from a yellow can. It goes on like regular car wax and leaves an excellent gloss to the wood.
