Noisy wiper blade

A few weeks ago, my wiper blade was getting noisy, so I replaced it with a brand new Anco. The new blade is waaay more squeaky than the last one. Just wondered if it's the brand or whatever. Maybe a softer rubber blade would be more quiet?

Jeff, have been driving mb since 1976, still have 300D purchased in 77, have driven 83 123, 87 124, 92 124, 99 124, and currently have a 04 211 e500. all of them have had terrible wipers. The e500's was replaced under warranty. Would think the germans could make a good wiper blade with all of the rain they have, but alas. Tried rain x, but it eventually streaked worse. If someone has the answer, would like to know, after over a million miles in benzs, not me.

About the only cure for noisy wiper blades is live where is does not rain.

Anything on the glass like road grime, automatic car wash sprayed on wax, etc. wreak havoc. Have you tried the bosch blades? I have not yet, but the trico and anco blades I used were fine until the had to be used.

my anco's wiped the window clean but would streak the last 4 inches of the wipe. How weird. Brand new too.

I can usually quieten noisy wiper blades by twisting the arm very slightly to make the blade at contact with the windshield as nearly 90 degrees as possible, they are usually noisy in sweeping one direction. It must be done
carefully with a small cresent wrench or two so as to not damage the arm.

My rainx wiper blades work great, never have any noise. Might be the combination with the rainx?

well, i just rain Xd my windshield and got NEW bosch blades. they wipe really well, but sounds like a squeaking going on in the blade's motor area....?? i had an old nissan that did that and i added oil in small amounts in the area that the arm attaches to the motor...it worked for a little while..but running the wiper speed on normal after a while seems to make it squeak again...

wtf

have you all heard of waxing your windshield? what's up with that?

Noise free on my other benz

On my '88 300CE, the wiper blade was quiet as a mouse. I don't know what kind it was. It is quite possible the guy who put the wiper blade on twisted the arm a bit wrong, maybe that's why it's squeaking. I'd have left the old blade on had I known the new one would be 4 times as squeeky.

Thanks,

jeff

Next time try BOSCH, they are very good, I use them on all the vehicles I own, German or Japanese.

The blade is only one part of the wiper system. You should also think about replacing the wiper and the blade assembly. Sold as a set. Dealers now only sell the type with the plastic stiffener (don't know how to describe this). You can still buy the older style with the thin metal stiffeners which , IMHO, work better.

Mine were both year old Bosch's. The wiped well but made a loud noise at the end of the blade travel at each side.

Everytime it rained I would swear I would replace them, but it would be clear the next day and I would forget. Last night I replaced both in a freezing sleety rain in the store parking lot.

They are silent now.

Clean the winshield with BON AMI, then clean the blade with rubbing alcohol. I started using Summerfit winshield washer additive year round with my regular old blue stuff and it works great, no smearing, gets rid of road grime. You can also try a few drops of Dawn in the tank with your blue stuff

Please be careful and more specific with recommendations like "clean your windshield with BON AMI".

You and I know that you mean the Bon Ami powder. Somebody won't know that and end up using the Bon Ami cleanser, which is not a good idea.

I have a thread on here somewhere that shows how long I have had the new RainX wiper arms installed, on the 126 windshield that is supposed to be the hardest to get good wipers to work on, perfect wiping, in hard and slow rain, no squeeks and no streaks. I will look through my past posts to find it.
