New Be, Inter change help please

Aloha everyone

I'm in the process of buying my first benz. I'm a die hard manual tranny guy. I'm looking for someone who can tell me which 300 TD can be inter changed to a 4 or 5 speed manual trans, if possible? Do the AT models have the mounts, holes, to except the pedal & master clutch assembly, and the center console for shift lever?
Which of these parts will need to be changed
bell housing yes
fly wheel yes
master cluych cylinder yes
slave cylinder yes
Linkages yes
Drive shaft ?
suports ?
other ?
Part #'s ?
Years that inter change ?

thank you
Hawaii!

This has been done, so do a search. It's not an easy process.

Its not a hard process, you need a W123, manual transmissions into W126 is very hard.

Search for a thread started by Rleo, entitled manual transmission swap has begun.

Its well documented, the difficulty is finding the manual out of a 240D.
Also you must live witha 4spd manual, a 5spd is very very rare, and expensive, I personally have never seen one under $1000.

Uh. Oh.

Hey, just today I saw a 123 300TD that was converted to a 5-speed! It must be easy.

You will need a shorter drive shaft and a 300D axle balancer. Also what year is the TD?

You will need:

Pedal assembly
Flywheel (match balanced to the wagon engine)
Piolet bearing
Clutch/pressure plate
Transmission
Shorter drive shaft
Pedals
Shift assembly
shortened shift linkages

The 300Ds that had a factory manual transmission seem to have come with a balancing disc. This disc may smooth the vibrations that many of us with manual transmission conversions have at low RPMs in some gears.

Thank you for your help bra
I don't own a MB yet. At this piont I'm gathering info before I dive in. I have a 1966 dodge D200 that I changed over from a v8 three spd to a slant 6 four spd. So i'm fimillar with the inter change process. From what I have read so far it sounds like I'm interested in buying a 240D W/ 4spd and up grading it to a 300TD. My other plan is to convert my dodge slant six over to a 300TD 4 spd also. I have a friend who is starting up a SVO cleaning business that will be processing about 4000 gals. per week to start. His plan is to get as many farms, fishing boats , and MB owners fueled as possible.

A 300TD is a wagon, but I know what you mean. Good luck with that inter change.
