YEEE HAW! Euro Lights!
My wifie announced to me that I could have a couple hundred bucks for an anniversary present...I'm glad I got her converted to diesel!
Any who, I just bid on and won a pair of Bosch Euro's. The seller claims that the cut the wires about 8 inches back from the pin sockets, so the sockets are coming with! I'll post pics when I get them installed. |
Wow -- just looked 'em up. You got a great deal; congrats!
|
I'm buying a passenger side one from Winmutt as well. Now I just need to find another driver side one and I'll have a full spare set...
|
Dang -- if you ever want to part with the lens off the spare pass. side light, let me know. Mine has a small divot in it.
|
If I can't find a driver side light, I will part with the spare.
|
they do have lenses new from bosch. . I need a passenger side lense for the set I have.. I have two sets of euros.. 1 for a W123 and the other for a 116
|
I've had the glass break on mine before... cost $75 for a new piece. Its expensive, but its a whole lot cheaper than newer cars with plastic lenses (~$400!!).
Only problem is that now one side looks newer than the other  |
Can you clean the other side to make them sort of match?
My Nissan Truck came with the Pathfinder package, so that meant composite lights. Well, over the yearsm the seals went bad, and let water seep in, then of course, green algae grew. They are clean and resealsed now, but what a pain, especially since Nissan made them to not come apart. Heat and coersion won the day this time. $75 for a new glass lens is not that bad, considering, and the glass won't get milky like the plastic. |
It does get pitted pretty well and I think thats the part you cant clean. Would be interesting to see what the DIY epoxy stuff for widnshield "bullet holes" would do for filling those in.
Grats on the lights man. The dayrunners will turn heads. |
How do the day runners work? I know you are talking about the 'city' lights. I did see a day runner kit that can be installed.

The Euro's are coming with about 8 in of wire before the socket where the seller cut them, and I was told the sockets and pins are intact, so I will have a physical view for changing over the electrical. Since they do not just "bolt in", what mods do I have to make? Thanks! |

Also, if you have a W116 you need to kill the cold air intake... it won't work with the euros. (doesn't make any sense, i know, but the euros block it). |

Thanks for the tip! :D |
That is a great tip, thanks! Spares are good to have, especially for the reflectors.
|
finally found them, turns out they wont display under the headlight listing if you pick a coupe as the model, only a sedan.
|
I found mine by using searches on mercedes benz mb 123 300. Stuff like that. On the German Ebay, I used 123 schienwerfer. The prices in Europe is not bad, but finding someone that ships to the US is a pain, and the shipping cost is astronomical. I saw a headlight washer/wiper set up, but the shipping was more that the auction price.

Thanks for the tips, folks. I will check out the eeuroparts source as well. I have ordered from them before with good results.

One arrived shattered...
Well, I was going to install my Euro's this weekend, since they arrived...
The passenger side arrived shattered with scratches on the reflectors. You can see on the box where it got hit. It was shipped DHL with standard $100 insurance. Time to start a claim.... Luckily, I have a spare one on the way... |
that sucks.. I hope mine fare well

I guess DHL now means "Drop Heavy Loads"? Did you get a claim going? |
Yes, a claim was submitted yesterday -- hopefully they'll pony up! If I replace one lens, I'll need to do the other, as well, or they'll look funny. The other "old" lens has some pitting and will look dull by comparison. In my case, 2 lenses will suffice. The scratches on the reflector aren't too bad.
Good luck! |
You are lucky. My reflectors are not too bad either, but the internal gray plastic that separates the headlamp from the fog lamp was broken also.
That glass is thick and had to endure a really hard hit to break all that, I think. |
