Need Assistance from owners of a '95 E300 D
This is a long saga, in fact its been going on ever since I got this car 4 years ago. To make a long story short, this model has an emergency shut-off knob/valve on top of the main fuel filter. Basically mine never worked, It never shuts off the engine, even when turned fully clock wise and permanently left in that position. I changes subject part, and same story. Car would not shut-off when the valve is turned to the closed positions. To me its seems like a very simple mechanism, basically when you turn that knob to the closed position, it acts just like a valve in a water faucet, and is supposed to prevent the fuel from flowing through the filter, causing the engine to starve for fuel and shut off. I can't figure out the two I already tried dont't work. The only thing that I can think off is that Mercedes keeps selling me the wrong fuel filter, causing that valve, and fuel filter not to inter-work properly.
My question therefore to other owners of this model cat and year, and specifically to those that are using a Mercedes Fuel filter, and that can confirm that their emergency shut-off valve does shut of the engine, is to please let me know the Mercedes part number of the fuel filter that they are using.
Thanks,
