A little advice please

I have an awful oil leak around the seal where the oil return from the turbo goes back to the oil pan. I am loosing 1-2 quarts a week. I was waiting for the seals and a new tube from Diesel Giant. Now they are here. As i have scouted out this repair it dosent look as simple as I thought. Access dosent look good... I assume I will have to come in from below. that is if I dont remove the turbo.
My question is, Is this an easy enough repair to do without removing the turbo, or should I just do the sloppy RTV fix and buy a little time, untill I am ready to pull the turbo, and the manifold and also install an EGT gauge. I was planning on installing the gauge, but it might take me a couple of weeks to be ready for a job of that size... Any help would be appreciated. I would love to hear from anyone with a 84 300D who has done this repair...
