R-12 Freon

Does R-12 become contaminated and what would a good price be for say 20lbs? The reason i am posting this here is cause i post all here and prefer the DD over the OD.

Anything can become contaminated. Could you be more specific?

If it's reclaimed or recycled it could very well be contaminated.
If it's fresh never been used then it's more than likely still good.

If you're looking to buy a bottle there shouldn't be a problem with it. Around here (Washington DC/Maryland) that bottle would go for around $1200

If the bottle was good R-12, it is pressurized so water and rust can't get in. If moisture is mixed with R-12 it will destroy a system, the reason for the filter/dryer in the A/C system.
