Non Working Tach on a 124
My searches have told me that it could be the tach amp. But other posts implied the 124 doesn't have an amp. Does it or doesn't it? If it does have one, where is it? Also noted posts that referred to a connection of some sort behind the battery. Is this a fuse, relay or ground? TIA

Is the AC working?? Is the idle rough??
It could be the OVP if the AC and Idle are off. It is located behind the battery. While the car is running press on the OVP, move it around a little bit. If the Tach comes back on this will be your problem. Retail (Steakership) about $95.00. Joe

blower fan works
but the AC doesn't. Would you try an OVP from a junkyard? Idle is OK.

A junkyard PVP might be ok. Make sure you can take it back if it doesn't. Did you try pressing on the OVP while the engine is running? Did the tach come back on?

Swapped OVP with known good one. No impact on tach. My idle is good. Do I have a tach amp? Could it be the RPM sensor, or the tach itself?

I had the same problem on my '92 2.5turbo. No tach and the compressor was not pulling in. Installed a brand new overvoltage protection relay and everything went to working. Man I like an easy repair.

You did check the fuse on the OVP?

Fuse on the OVP was good. I now have a tach sensor, I'll replace that and see what happens.
