Time to check in
I have been using this site since I started work on a recently purchased '83 240D. This is a great service and I have picked up some useable information so far. I was in a real stew about how to install the rubber impact strips on each end of the 240D. For whatever reason the PO had taken them off. But, Roy Hunter in the parts section came to my rescue. The install with new parts involved a big hammer and baby powder!
My 240D has fairly low miles but was left sitting for quite a while due to illness of the owner. His daughter ended up with it and her husband changed the oil and replaced the leak lines to get it going. Neither of them wanted to use a stick shift so they put it on Craigs List. I think it is going to be a really good car after I get all the nickle and dime stuff squared away.
I enjoy this forum and will continue to rely on it for information and parts.
