Exclamation 240D shaking at red light, almost stalls

1980 240D with 190,000 mi

yesterday i had the glow plugs replaced, as well as the fuel filters.

today while driving, i noticed that anytime i had to stop a red light, the car started vibrating, which seemed to increase more and more the longer i sat, and then felt as if it were going to stall out which i prevented by revving up the rpms.

any ideas?

motor mount? fuel injectors?

thanks!

Did the problem exist before you changed the filter? If not you may have introduced an air leak accidentally. You are also aware of the idle adjust just in front of your left knee on the dash?

Sounds like a clogged primary filter,,, but if that's been changed, then probably a clogged strainer in the tank. Got less then 1/4 tank of fuel?

Is the pump primer tightened down securely. If not air may be getting in.

update

thanks for the responses.

it had less than a quarter of a tank, when i picked it up from the shop, so i added some fuel this morning. i added some seafoam to the crank case as well, but that didn't seem to do much.

still vibrating heavily while idling, and it died on me after the first start this morning (guess it was a bit cold last night).

Take it back to the shop (even if you don't trust them anymore.)
