Sunroof closing issues.

Last fall the sunroof closed perfectly. Opened it up yesterday, and it would not clos all of the way, Looked like it was getting caught on the wind deflector. No luck playing with the deflector.

After I got home, I found what I would call a felt pad loose in the track. Removed that, but still had the same issue. I then noticed that the SR was sligntly crooked, Opened it a little and helped it align, and it closed.

How do I fix this? Is it having issues because of the felt pad that came off? I have no clue where it went. or is it something else?

Where do I begin?
thanks
Doug

You begin by really cleaning the slider rails and get the proper sun roof lube from an MB dealer. The chrome side rails just unscrew and are lifted off to clean, be aware to not turn the one forward screw on either side that adjusts the closed height of the sunroof panel. Maybe someone here could provide the service manual section detailing lubing and adjustments?

Sounds like a reasonable idea, Hopw someone can provide the manual. What about the felt looking piece. Is that from inside this somwhere? About 1/4' wide and 1" long with a slot in it (ripped out)
Thanks
Doug

This is for a 124, but some of it might apply to your car.

The "felt" part is the side gasket for the sunroof. Order new ones from fastlane at the order parts link above.
you will have to trim the part you get, so don't loose the original one.
also, removal of the sunroof will be needed to properly change it out.
