The front and the back of my baby weren't even, the front was a bit too high, so i decided to put smaller spring pads, here's the compressor in action:

what did you use for the T&P plates? it looks a lot thicker than "sheetmetal" there is a MASSIVE amount of energy in that compressed spring. I would wrap a chain through it, just to give a slight bit of saftey. be very cautious with this.

I used "sheetmetal" but 10mm thick one, used the grinder to cut some 12cm round plates then welded the nut in the midle for the top plate.

I also welded 6mm wire around the plates to make a litlle lip.

you are making me nervous!

My hat goes off to your ingenuity. However, at the risk of bodily harm or death, I can't endorse it.

Very scary!

Don't the true compressors have a "tilt" to the plates to match the coil angle and help keep the spring straight when compressed?

I'll have to say that I like yours the best, of what I've seen, for a homemade version. The "factory-approved" version isn't tilted but is formed to hold the coil in a centered position on the plate. From both of the models shown here, maintaining centering on the end plates would be a major concern of mine. (It is hard to determine that feature in the photos)
Even the "factory" tool is scary and you need to make sure everything is in its proper detent to prevent slipping to one side and the bottom plate is locked in place.
