What is your favorite "look" for the W123
Since theres so many variations of the W123's, between the years, and euro/US parts I just figured I'd see which combinations people liked the best. If you could order it now from the factory how would it look. Just a random fun thread.
I'd have to say a darker colored W123 sedan, Black, Red or Gray, with 3 piece euro bumpers, painted hubcaps, the US spec headlights with clear fogs, chrome cowl vents, badge deleted trunk lid, and the checkered black cloth interior. :) -Zach |
Love the Euro much better then the US-DOT. also love the black MB-tex with maybe a dark or light blue exterior. With maching hub caps. (i hate cleaning those rims) Manual rear windows and poer fronts. Manual sunroof. Euro full covered headlights(if we could even have those). hopefully a 617 either N/a or with the turbo with a 5 speed.
yea that would be sweet |
Petrol Green wagon, cloth palomino. Manual climate controls with the wood surrounds. Full euro bumper, lights, headlight wipers. 617 turbo, smooth shifting automatic with overdrive.

AMG 280E.. AMG everything.. I Want the W123 Hammer... I know its not diesel but. damn... its soo hot.. It would be black on black on black
blacked out grill and penta's. Lowered and stuff... man it would be sweet |

if you want one of these babies, going auto is like driving in reverse all the time. a stick makes a performance vehicle a PERFORMANCE vehicle. really, it's worth it to learn to drive a stick. you are young, get a stick car and thrash it. you will understand in no time how to drive a stick. John |

I don't have a W123, but if I did it seems it would have to be blue.
|
it looks like you need a 123 to ease the transition between your oldest and the middle one.
nice 124wagon! John |
I like the look of my euro 123wagon. I would like the round euro lights, and manual rear windows. 60/40 split with rear seat and headrests.
more power would be nice. it's nice no badges on the back. the shadow silver paint is also cool, almost gold. John |
If I had POS's AMG 280E I would get into alot of trouble ^_^.. man the ricers would be like.. dayum son whats that thing under the hood...
|
A silver 280ce with black trim, backed grill and painted silver bumpers along with 8x16 penta's and full AMG body kit, suspension and motor which equals my coupe in the near future :)
http://www.maj.com/gallery/Boardmong...W123s/280e.jpg If not that, then a russet brown 300d all US-spec with 15" ATS Bundts and the front just a tiny bit lower. |
To drive everyday and utilitarian i take an antracite 300TDt with cream or olive interior. Euro headlight and DOT bumpers (opposite of the first poster).
Now for the weekend driver: If ya gonna go AMG i'll take a 500CE (280CE 5.0!!!!) all red/red and red trim. |
Hmm
I'd have to say that cool 70's orange or avocado green 300TD, 5 speed manual, with tan MB tex interior.
Damn I love that 70's orange...I was inches from painting my W115 this color. |
i would think i would get one just like this... aka mine
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...Picture111.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...Picture106.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...icture114a.jpg |
For everyday, Id order a Cactus green 200D (euro) 4 speed, with palomino cloth interior, no power anything or A/c, rear headrests, hitch & manual antenna.
A garage queen, Id take a 300D (euro) 5-speed, Decked out with dark green on olive velor, headlamp washers, 2 tone horn, power everything, hitch, 15" bundts and a/c |

Silver 1985 300TD with Euro Bumpers, AMG front spoiler, the early flat five spoke monobloc AMG wheels 16x7 front and 16x8 rear with some Michelin Pilots, intercooler, heated seats, later Becker stereo with a CD changer, third seat, trailer hitch, red leather interior, no rub strips on the roof, only the racks, and a five speed.
There is nothing like dreaming. Now I have a W124 wagon I want to modify. It is so timeless looking that it looks just as good today as it did when it was new. I also think the OM603 is a better engine for modifying. |
Since I could order it anyway I wanted: Black TD, black leather w/3rd row seat, 15" Bundts (black caps are close behind), Euro front bumper, Euro spec round lights w/wipers and amber fogs, US rear bumper (would be putting a trailer hitch on it and just would like a little extra protection back there), rear fog light, manual AC and manual sunroof.
Oh, to dream :) Might have to build me one some day. |

Any - as long as it's in my rear view mirror, getting smaller all the time :)
Seriously - some very nice cars there |

My favorite amg option is still the champagne chiller and fold down tables in the rear.

Bloody Trim?
Wait a few days.:D |

I'm not into the Matte paint on newer cars. Its cool on old hot-rods, but on a modern car it is out of place. New cars are meant to shine, not be dull.
|
For a "unique" W123 to show off at get togethers, I'd want a black 300D, long wheelbase with capacity for 7 occupants including driver, turbo OM617, limo tint, square Euros, blacked out grille avantgarde style, US bumpers, dark orange euro corners, SLS, 15" wheel covers painted black, and a black leather interior.
For a daily driver, I'm content with what I already have. I'd just get all the maintainence caught up and get a respray done. |
black on black with leather interior. a 1983 450 sel with the euro full all round bumpers would be awesome. buutt.. the euro headlights on a 300d would be nice.
|
Mine how it already is (freshly restored), with 15 inch Bundts, somewhat lowered front stance (smaller wheel well gap), with possibly the manual/dual climate control system instead.
Was the w124/w126/w201 airbag wheel offered in the w123? I'm guessing so since other w123's with airbags had them from the factory but I'm not sure. Anyhoo, I'd like to get that steering wheel if only for the feel of it (smaller, but more solid, wheel). It would also be great to have a rear electric shade if it was an option...? :D If not then retrofit one...without cutting anything critical! |
i like all 123s. they aren't flashy but they are refined and handsome. i like them with bundts or with the painted caps. the amg wheels look nice too but i wouldn't sacrifice the ride quality to have them myself. my favorite color is the maple yellow. i really like about all the colors though. i would hesitate to buy a dark colored one because they show dirt though. any engine with a stick is best, though POS's amg is tugging my heart strings at the moment, i would really like a 240 with five speed as well.
i have owned over 20 of the 123s so i have had almost one of each of the more common engines and body styles. never had a limo yet. tom w |
Theres a limo ( I think they called it a Lang? correct me if I'm wrong) around town here, one of the hotels uses it and runs it on bio (they of course have to advertise it in the window), it just looks like one of the classiest cars I've ever seen, beige with euro bumpers and round euro lights. MMMMM :)

buy

Believe me, I would buy it, but if I stick another car in the yard, mom will have me living back there :freak: |
Heh
I honestly hate how the old AMG stuff looks. So flash, and "ghetto" Too 80's for me. I like painted caps to match the body, and a cool paint color....orange comes to mind :D
|
oh my gawd!
gatorblue92, I want your car too (but I'm whispering so Lola can't hear):pleased:. Great TNG graphic too--where'd you find it (and the car)?

1985 300D My Blue Baby!
1 Attachment(s)
I would have to say my 300D Turbo Diesel is the best look!! I love my baby! Silver Blue Metallic w/ Navy Blue MB-Tex Interior...classic! :)
|
i am interested in the chrome delete option but never seen it taken far enough. '70s colors are much, much cooler than the alternative.
|
Mine with a 5 speed, zender front lip, bbs rear spoiler, lot's of lowered stance, and staggered 16 inch BBS RS's.
|
I like the Euro look for the painted wheel covers, bumpers, headlights, manual everything, I like chrome air vents, chrome trim below the tail lights (240s) and the darker paint colors;) I guess I got what I like:D
