Not many out there that nice!!!

Oh man, that car looks gorgeous, it's something to be proud of. The photos do it proud.

Somehow when they are cean, and in a fantastic color like that, they are a rolling ad for your good taste and for what an old Mercedes is all about.

For heavens' sake, though, ditch the Texas plate on the front (Cops will see it with the Florida one on back, and wonder, might get you a ticket, or a pointed question, at least!)

And put a blanket on the seat if you are gonna let Fido ride in there (a car that lovely, you shouldn't--- just get an old Volvo 740, a manual or dogmatic!)

Very nice!

Hope the red holds up well in the sun. I spent much of the weekend on my W116 replacing window seals and removing the old headliner that had a rip in it. Now I'm itching to repaint mine to be rid of the Golden Brown (aka Fecal Matter Brown) color. But it will have to wait...

You can't repaint until it starts to peel.

And then only original colors. And still better than Anthracite Grey in my book....

Dark Anthracite Grey is one of the most beautiful colors this car comes in.

Thanks Jim,

I need to PB Blast the bolts on the front TX Plates again. They were pretty fried on there.

The pooches will have a rear seat cover asap; FUnny though a previous DD was a 740GL Wagon. It was pre -dogs, but they are spoiled now & if I got a VOlvo they would probably ride with their heads down under the seats....

WWOW..!! I can't believe how nicely that thing cleaned up. Very impressed. I like it a lot. Sorry I missed out on your Coupe. My collection has grown, to an overwhelming rate, for the moment. I'm putting one of my 79 300CD's for sale. Nice car, but needs some work here and there. Not as nice as the one you have/had. I like the SD though, best of luck with all of your cars. Oh, also, I love the black fur seat cover, on the passenger seat. Nice add on...LOL.

Nick

NIck,

I still have the Coupe. I was going to sell it, but when I took it home from my indie after not driving it for a week I decided "no way".
You can't sell a coupe.
It is too much fun to drive & too rare.

If I have to put 3 or 4,000 into it to bring it back to good shape it will all be worth it.

AND I have a matching set of the black "seat covers".

Really cute dog. I must say also, that I feel you've made a very sound decision, in keeping the CD. I love the coupes, and swear by them. They're sorta magnetic, almost. I don't have anything with more than two doors on it, with the exception of my 83 Old Custom Cruiser, diesel station wagon, and my newly purchased, 2007 Ford F-550 Crew Cab, 4X4 Dually Six Speed Diesel Pick-Up Truck....Whewww, Say that ten times fast...Aside from those two monsters though, they're all coupes.

Thanks.

It is back at Villi ( tech) for a few repairs...

It is a pleasure to drive....& feels quicker than the '81 SD.

I wish I knew the max speaker sizes for the front & rear decks though......

Eventually, I will repaint mine in a darker color, probably the dark factory blue ( I can't recall the color name, but it's code 904) that Carrameow finally wound up with on his 300D. I happen to like Anthracite Grey, but I won't shoot anything but solid colors. I kind of like the Signalrot, but we have that already on the wife's 300D and that would be too much of a good thing.

Golden Brown is just a weird brown. Sometimes I hate it -sometimes I halfway like it. It kind of reminds me of the color the Soviets used to use on their armor and vehicles. The PPO repainted the top, fenders and 2 doors, but left the original paint on the hood, trunk and 2 doors (?) I can't figure out why for sure, but I think the old paint may have cracked- certainly no rust or collision damage here. Problem is, the new stuff was done in base/clear and the old stuff is just plain enamel and except when the car is freshly waxed, it shows.

Rick
