some local assistance.

hello,

I came across a 1980 300sd in decent shape. but i know nothing about working on it. I know these forums are a good place for help and I've used the search button. I was wondering if some one local in chicago area can show how to maintain it as a DIY'er.....some one to teach me etc.

those cars are notorious for rust. inspect it thoroughly! clean it frequently.

Well it was given to me.....it was garaged, but driven with 200,000 miles. It seen a decent life,... not papamered, but not abused.....I knew the owner, it was garaged but driven, washed and waxed. cared for, but not abused. the a/c has a very very slow leak.....it takes summer season for the refrigerant to completely leak out. The engine sometime makes a slight clink noise every few seconds at idle and goes away when driven.

yes it has rust but far from a rust bucket. my 1995 car has more rust then this MB. Few times I've been offered 3-5 grand for it.
