240D trim piece
There's a small piece of trim on the sides of our 83 240 - it's on the body, directly above the rear tire, at the same height as the base of the rear window. It's about 8 inches long and an inch wide - sort of like a swoosh mark.
The trim on the passenger side is broken and half of it is missing. I have a parts car -anyone know how you get this piece off without breaking it? thanks, harvey |

I have never taken one of those pieces off or seen a damaged one. You could try carefully prying the one off your car which would reveal the "attachment" secret.

The body colored can be popped off to reveal the mounting screws underneath.

hi lietyviai -
when you say "popped off" - i was wondering about just prying off this piece - it seems to be made of something like formica - will it just lever off with a screwdriver or small prybar? don't want to break the replacement piece on the parts car. thanks, harvey |

Yes, that's all I did one I used to own. It's made of aluminum so it can bend. It's been a while since I've removed it. Use something that is thin so you don't gouge it or the surrounding trim. Start by sticking something at the edge of the trim cover where it starts under the rear pillar trim.
