Thumbs up W116 fixer upper

Thought I'd share some pics from my buddy's fix on his 1979 300SD after he rear ended another car at 50mph (stopped in the middle of the road just over a hill- other driver at fault)

He figured it was a good time to fully go though the car and fix all the little dents and stuff and make it the color he wanted. It has well over 300,000 miles on it.

Awesome ... thanks for sharing. Impressive fix-up ... car looks fantastic now! I always like to see that someone cares enough to put that kind of effort into an "old guy."

That does look very nice. But it is hard to get past those wheels.......
Nice upgrade on the Euro headlights, though. Probably THE best W116 mod out there!

Your friend did quite a job, he must really love his car! Most people would have parted it. How long did it take him? If he did it himself he's a talented individual. How does he like that intercooler?

Nice paint job!

Wow someone finally put a good cold air intake on one of these cars. Best one I have seen by far.

I love those wheels.....when my tires are shot I am going to look for some 15" MB rims that are a bit more modern. I also need a paint job. Very. very. badly. I just ground down, primed and painted the enormous key'ing (well, they actually used a flat-blade screwdriver from what I can tell) that someone did to my poor car last August....and it looks rather terrible...the scrape went all the way from the front fender to the middle of the rear drivers door, all the way down to the metal. At least I stopped the rust though. I wish I could afford a major body make-over.

Geez, kiddies and their wheels.
That is a cool intake setup, but down here we need the aux fan worse than we need that!!

That's some amazing work. Almost looks like candy apple red. He lost me at the tail though. In my opinion the reflectors need to be left alone. I don't like the clear turn signal lenses either.
