Flaky Fuel Gauge W123

The fuel gauge in my 240D flickers. The needle moves quickly between E and wherever the fuel level actually is. It does not do this constantly, but it does do it a fair amount.

I have removed the instrument cluster and disassembled it so the fuel/water/oil gauge portion is separate from the rest of the cluster.

Looking for some information on what I should looking for in regard to the cause of this issue.

I have searched but haven't found much.

Thanks.
