Mechanic for '82 240D near Ann Arbor/Detroit?

Hello! This is my first time posting to the forum but I've found a lot of helpful info here and wanted to make an account finally.

I am looking for a mechanic near Ann Arbor or Detroit Michigan who has experience with older diesel MBs. I have a new-to-me '82 240D (auto) that needs some tlc. I'm trying to learn to work on it as I go, but would like to have it inspected so I could make a list of priorities and get a realistic sense of what i can expect out of a car with close to 240K and many previous owners.

Grateful for any help anyone can provide. Thank you!

There used to be a GREAT MB mechanic in Ypsilanti. It was on Washtenaw Ave. right next to the Putt Putt golf and fun center. Not sure if it is there anymore or not as things have changes since I was last there 10 years ago......its worth a look though.

I do not know of any mechanics, but there is tons of information on this site.
Sometimes you are the best mechanic you will find. These cars have have outlasted some of the best mechanics careers. I always like to have a service manual for every vehicle I own.
If it is a Michigan car I would do a thorough rust inspection before you start throwing money at it.

If you get in a pinch, let me know. I am no certified mechanic, but a pretty good wrench and your not too far.
