300D CA engine into 240D

Well i am trying to figure out what to do with my soon to be parts car. My ultimate goal would be to take the 617 turbo engine out of my '85 300D and replace my ailing '80 240D engine. the only problem i foresee is that the Cali engine will not like its new host (electronics, etc..).

since i will mate it with a 4 speed, it should be easier to hook everything up, but what are some things that i have to watch out for and change. i have already removed the EGR, ARV is dissabled, and the Oxidizing catalyst will be removed once the engine is out. i know i will have to swap out the exhaust, rear diff, instrument panel, probably cruise, and i have no clue what needs to happen to get the AC working once in the 240D.

i am also thinking of swapping the interior out as well, including the dash (what sort of trouble will i get myself into there??)


any suggestions would be appreciated.


i forgot the name of the forum member, but he and i both wanted to have a trap ox straight pipe made. once the engine is out, i will remove it and take it to a local shop to have a replacement made. PM me!!!
