Do I need to drive my Car while performing a diesel purge?

I am about to perform my first diesel purge. It does not seem necessary to drive the car while performing a diesel purge. Is one way better than the other?

Anybody tried it both ways and think one was better?

Does it matter?

thanks
Jason

Either way, fuel is injected into the engine. It's probably best to not drive it so you don't run low and suck in air.

Yes, you should drive the car so the purge can flow through at the higher RPMs and loads. Would be good to get onto a highway for a minute or two. Just be sure to stay relatively close to home, or have a spare can of purge or extra fuel on hand in case the feed bottle starts to run dry.

Either way will work- if you decide to drive it, make sure you have enough DP in the container to get you out and around the block.

I just did it in my shop with the container of purge setting where I could see it, ran the engine at varying RPMs till it was ALMOST empty. I wouldn't drive around while "purging", there must be a law

It's a solvent that you run the engine on temporally that is supposed to clean the injectors. My local NAPA carries it. It is made by Lubro Molly (sp?)

I drove the car when I did it, and did an Italian tune-up. There is plenty in a bottle for a hard trip around the block. I didn't really get any results from it though.

Does it matter? No, vary throttle position. Just beware of running out off fuel not in your driveway.

thanks
Jason
Install new filters afterwards.

You'll need to fashion a temporary fuel "tank" remove the rubber under hood input fuel line from metal part, insert into bottom of temp fuel tank, remove return line from metal line and also put in tank, it just spits excess fuel back, fill with purge product, follow label directions. when is it nessasary? I do this occasionally, always when a new purchase. I have not noticed a difference after I did the first one. After that I know from where the fuel is bought. I get bored, and well the CD needs a purge...where can i get dp?
I have to get mine via mail order. Lubro Moly? Here is the tank system I have on hand. Hook up the black hose to primary filter input, fill up via funnel, and direct the return (cigar) hose in there somewhere. I have a hole cut in the middle part of my "tank", you may be able to see.
