IP Blues
OK...
I blew a bunch of oil out of a ruptured oil cooler line. After I replaced that, there was a high-pitched pinging coming from the front of the engine, in time with the throttle. I drove it for 10 miles and the engine stalled, the fuel pedal totally ineffective. Suspecting timing chain issues, I checked both the chain for stretch and the tensioner for failure. Both OK. At this point it seems that the problem lies with the injector pump. Pedal to the metal now yields very slow and inconsistent acceleration, the engine is loud and shuddering like a frightened drunk. If the IP ran dry of oil, need it be primed somehow? Is all lost? greenjed |

How long was it ran without oil? If more than a few seconds it could be some serious damage you're facing.

I don't know exactly how long it ran w/o oil...the level was at the bottom tip of the dipstick. The engine seems to spin normally when I crank it by jumping the starter connection...The camshaft looks fine...The problems start when throttle is increased...
