Which Radiator

I just finishing up a citric acid flush and went to fill the coolant from the top radiator hose and snap, the hose nipple breaks off. So I need to replace the 22 year old radiator on my 85 300SD but I can't decide on a brand.

I can get a nissen for $195 but I'm a little worried because I have heard storied of them leaking right out of the box.

A Silla would cost $220 but I know little about the quality of Sillas.

A Behr would cost $273. I am leaning toward this option, can't go wrong with OE.

An all metal radiator is out of my price range. Wizard cooling quoted me $650.

I would appreciate any input/recommendations.

Thanks

I just replaced my radiator in my 240D with a Behr. Seems a decently constructed unit and I'm happy with it but I guess only time will tell. Mine was made in South Africa in 2006.

I also put a Behr in my 300D after braking of the neck. I considered an all metal one, but I wanted a replacement that day and my indy could get a Behr from worldpac right away.

We have a Nissen in the 300D. Works fine and seems well made ( in Denmark). I can't see anthing wrong with it at all.

WHere can I get an all metal radiator for a '87 300SDL? I would prefer a copper/brass radiator to an aluminum one.

Craig,

I would prefer a copper/brass radiator. Wizard only makes aluminum radiators.

But in their website they say the will make an all aluminum (no plastic tanks) radiator for any application.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't know who else might make them, maybe some custom radiator shop? I've pretty much decided that radiators are maintenance items that will need to be replaced every decade or two.

Craig,

I thought, a long time ago, I saw something in this website that there was a place that supplied copper/brass repacement radiators for MB.

I didn't take too much notice because at that time I didn't have any aluminum MB radiators. Now I have 3 of them and one is broken from an accident and needs to be replaced.
