Oil leak at base of injector OM617 79 model
1 Attachment(s)
My engine is s OM 617.912 model 79 300D . While I was testing the engine running it at high rpm. I saw oil bubbling out from the base of the injector base At #1, #4,#5 nozzle base. They all are coming out from the same position. They only bubble at high rpm.
What can I do to remedy. It is very hard to remove the injector plugs. The base seem fixed. Is there a special tool to remove, or maybe re tighten it. Is there something I can do with the HEAD or have I done something wrong wrong the HEAD. I finished replacing my HEAD gasket. I checked re-checked the HEAD bolts. 65 ft.pounds. :( _________ 79 300D automatic 79 300D manual - under repair |

That pic looks quite greasy. Degrease and dry the entire injector and surrounding area including the valve cover gasket then run it and see where the oil is really coming from and go from there..

Oil would come from the valve cover gasket, not the inj. The one inj you show looks wet where the metal fuel line attaches and the return lines also look damp. |

Now it bubbles even on low rev? What can it be?
Anyone who has manual for rear differential. I found out that my right rear wheel is loose? I have to check what is wrong. The other side of the rear wheel is tight. I discovered it while bleeding the brake lines. Good that I haven't run it for long? Wheew.. I am afraid that the wheel will disengage. Need help!!! ____________ 79' 300D automatic (rep new alternator belts) 79' 300D manual |
And all the injector base is bubbling!!! If it is compression, what is wrong and what should I do?

From the pic, you may have an oil leak from the cover gasket, the red stuff looks as if it's a sealant, you do not need. Anyway, bubbles would be compression "leaking" around injectors, or cover, torque down, cover is 11 ft. lbs. see if that helps, otherwise remove and replace washers under injectors, then torque those down to 55 ft. lbs.
Regarding your rear wheel, should be good now, torque those to 85 ft. lbs. |
Thanks for the advice!! I have to get a deep 27 to remove the injectors. Asfor the wheel, it seems that it is loose between the axle end and the brake disk. I still have to find a manuall to check what part is loose? Do we have it here in the forum?

You can use a 1 1/16 inch socket=27mm. CD-ROM manuals are available from http://mbusa.com I think. If your wheel is bolted on and still loose, both? The rear bearings can be dealt with, yet that is not normal, and I understand, quite involved.

Only the one in the drivers right side rear wheel.

Check for excessive play on your half shaft, the condition of the CV joints, in board, and out board on the drivers side.
