Did MB design the wiper arm to "give"?
Last winter I got in and fired up the car to go to work, the windshield was frozen, so I picked up the wipers to pop them loose and then went to turn them on so I could run a hose over the window. The passenger side glued itself back down, when I turned them on it stayed put but the driver arm worked fine. I thought I had broken the linkage, came back to it that afternoon and turned it on and all worked normally. The other day I picked up the passenger wiper to clean the blade, and the arm moved around with medium resistance, as soon as I turned them on the arm picked itself right back up into the proper position with it's mate and swayed along.
Is this supposed to be this way or am I heading toward an imminent failure? This was on the '80.
