Advice on botched cruise amp replace job
OK - first of all - mea culpa - I botched this job.
I used a cheap made-in-China socket on the bolt that mounts the cruise amp bracket, and it slipped on the first pull. So the bolt head is rounded! I tried a wrench next and that spun too, thanks to the mess made by Mr Cheapo socket set. Resorted to vice grips and tore some little chunks off the bolt's head but nada.
Real nice job too - lying on my back with my head beside the pedals and my legs on the reclined drivers seat ... thank God I am slim and can fit under the steering wheel. I did leave a good footprint on the headliner!
I replaced the cruise amp and I NOW HAVE CRUISE with the simple expedient of bending back the tabs carefully on the metal can, and removing the circuit board, BUT I do not like leaving a job in this messy state.
Does anyone know of a magic tool that will work in a situation like this?
