C200 Kompresor 203 2001

My car has covered 38,000 miles, the oil warning came on 'add 1 Litre'
opened the bonnet to find the oil filter leaking,the sealing ring had poped out from the filter. I unscrewed the filter and refitted the 'o' ring.Started the engine left it running on idle, 5 mins later the 'o' ring popped out again.Seems like a pressure problem any ideas?
