Poison

I know this has been discussed a million times, what is readily available from the corner auto supply stores for killing the living organisms in my tank and what is it called?
I am not close to a marine type supply store.

It is called biocide, but I haven't been able to find any at autozone. I bought mine at West Marine- you could probably get some online.

The tank strainer could have them too- mine was really bad. It would starve itself for fuel at a half a tank. All fixed now...

The only fuel biocide I ever see locally is Power Service Diesel-911 (at truck stops).

The one that the MB guys seem to prefer is Startron. It also contans a lot of naptha, so it will licquify (sp) the sludge and pass it to the filters, thus no need to pull the strainer. West Marine sells it. You can order it on their website.

Hint: Naptha is evil stuff. Be careful with it.

I was surprised to see the small bottles of Startron at my local Wal Mart here in Baton Rouge. Worth checking the fishing/boating section at Sprawl Mart if more convenient. I used both Biobor (to kill em) and Startron (to dissolve em) with good results, though maybe just Startron would have worked fine. Took a couple of tanks of Diesel for the all clear.
