Breather Hose - Just Tug?

I bought the upgraded "flat" breather hose for my 84 300D Turbo. The existing breather hose is the 3-piece type and leaving a leaky oily mess all over my valve cover. I tried firmly pulling on the end of the breather hose that connects to the air filter, but it wouldn't budge. Do I just need to pull harder, or is there something that needs to be loosened?

Pull harder. It should just pop out. You can also remove the breather cover and access it for under the lid.
