1982 300DT value?

Guys,
I would like to get a stated value insurance policy on my girlfriend's 82 300D Turbo. The problem is I really don't know what the car is worth as this is my first Mercedes experience. The history of the car is fully documented in the service book, and she is the second owner. The car has 140k miles on it and has zero rust. Paint has been redone in the past but is very good, I would rate it a 8 out of 10 (I am very picky). The original owners did the European delivery option and we have all the original paperwork. The interior is extremely good except for the dash has a few cracks (I understand this is common with blue ones). Seats, headliner, carpet are all in like new condition. The wood trim is all intact and in very good condition as well. Everything works on the car except the a/c needs to be recharged and the cruise control sometimes acts up.

Recent work since May includes new brake calipers/pads and lines. Four new Michelin Harmony tires, rebuild of the front suspension with all new bushings, and correction of some vac leaks. Replaced the motor mounts too. I have been using the car as a fair weather driver and I have been getting upper 20's on mpg. Acceleration is very good and the turbo works as it should (can easily cruise at 70 without a problem). The color is silver and the interior is blue. Blow by is very minimal and the car starts very well. So, what do you all think it is worth? I really cannot find anything local to compare it to. Thanks and I can get some pictures tomorrow if that would help.

I'm guessing $5,000-$10,000.

That's in the ballpark, the exact value really depends on condition and location. Around here the replacement value would probably be closer to the upper end of that range.

this is a good reason to use ebay. do a completed auctions search for 82-85 300D turbodiesels and throw out the high and low numbers.

Thanks guys,
I was thinking around $7500-8000 and just wanted to make sure I wasn't being too optimistic. The other thing is I have put around $2k getting the car back into reliable condition and honestly to make the car 100% probably have another grand to go. The nice thing is that after the next round of things the car should be good to go at least another 100k miles without needing much. I think I really lucked out with this one considering how long it had set but it had always been lovingly cared for up to the point when it was put into storage. Thanks again,

A realistic approach is to take the upper end value and then unemotionally deduct the costs to bring your car to that standard.
