While driving around town yesterday I noticed an aroma in the car that wasn't pleasant. Upon my next startup I got a low battery warning. Hmmm, I thought, this could be interesting, low batt and fuel smell. When I got home, up went the hood and I had fuel everywhere, including the alternator. Upon inspection it seemed the leak was from under the cover for the injectors. "leaking return line" I hoped. Upon removal of the injector cover, ALL SIX injector wells were full of fuel So I got out a small syringe and some injector return line and sucked all the fuel I could out of each well. I started the car to look for the leak and found the plug on the last injector spurting fuel. What a relief A trip to NAPA in the trusty 124 and $1.09 later I had a new cap and the leak was stopped. If I had not been familiar enough with the car to investigate myself and took it to a stealership, I can only wonder what I would have paid for this repair Lesson learned: what at first may appear catastrophic many times is in fact quite minor.
