Red face Little Help Please

I have fallen in love with this beautiful 220 D The chassis number is W115 and the engine number is OM615. it burns about a quart in a thousand highway miles, but I am told that is totally within spec for a car of this vintage???!? I am also told that they wanted residual oil in the upper cylinder/valves so a bit of crankcase blowby was engineered into the design.

I am not a mechanic, just a simple sole who is in love with this 1972 classic Benz. I have to fly to Colorado and drive it back to Austin, TX where I live. I am buying this car from a friend , Pitansk as he is know on this site, and I trust him. I realize this is an old car, but if any one could advise me on this purchase I would appreciate any advice you may have.

All i know is that if my 01 Toyota was burning 1 quart in a 1000 miles I would be in trouble! Any comments or help are greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Claytor
