300D secondary fuel filter leak

I have a leak on my 1978 300D that I can't seen to get rid of.

It leaks between the secondary filter banjo bolt and the
crush ring. I took off the old aluminum crush ring and replaced
it with a copper one (after many auto stores later). Also, the o ring
was replaced with a new one.

I tighten it down pretty tight and it still leaks!
If I tighten it down any more I'm afraid that I will
fracture the aluminum fuel housing.

Any suggestions? Specs on o ring and crush rings
would be helpful.

thanks

Are you talking about the banjo bolt that has the three way fitting. the return line from the injectors and the cigar hose & the line coming up from the injection pump?
I just went out and looked at mine, and there is an aluminium washer between the bolt and banjo fitting, and under the banjo fitting and the filter housing.
I just replaced that line and alum. washers. no leaks. shouldn`t have to really crank down hard on it, the housing is aluminium. maybe a PO in the past did somehard wrenching on it.

Fuel leak

Sorry, Not the banjo bolt.

The holow bolt that holds the secondary filter
on. I put the copper washer between the head of that bolt and the
secondary filter housing and tightened it down.

Very tight but it still leaks.

Maybe I should order the correct aluminum washer
and O ring?

That should have worked. Try and make sure you have the correct size washer. On my '82 240, I had the same thing, I was unable to find a copper washer, so I went to the hardware store and bought a composite washer of the proper thickness and I.D.

Fuel leak fixed

Got the correct o ring/ crush washer from **************.com

and no more leak.

It cost 1.50 for 1 crush ring / o ring package.

It pays to get the right part.

Here's a pic of one from **************. Neither of my current fleet needs it.
