power steering is intermittent

while turning it is normal then i loss power steering, and then it repeats.

i have searched around cant seem to find this problem.

how can this be trouble shooted

Checking the fluid level would be a great place to start.

check the tension of the belt too. when i was finished replacing the engine in my car took it for a test drive and had this PS, no PS pulse. turned out to be a lose belt.

Check belt / fluid level as already stated. If not, you may have a sticking valve in the pump, or even the steering gearbox.

loose belt- very- they wiggled free.

i tightened those suckers down a couple of weeks ago. didnt even think of double checking my work.

Also check if either power steering fluid or coolant is leaking onto your belts and causing it to slip.
