Good day today!

Well today I went to help eagle-co94(James) bring his 190E to the scrapper(another story in itself) and then we went to the Lakeland Auto Salvage yard to get my manual sunroof.

We walk to the back of the lot and ask a random guy if he knows where the Benz's are.. he is like sure and points to the left rear ish area. James had also blocked someone in that was driving a 300SD.. He asked if this guy owns it and he was the owner so James went and moved his car. I also told that guy about our little forum( I need business cards). So I go find this W123...

I walk up from behind and see the trunk.. wha? no badges? I look down.. small bumpers... A EURO!!!!! SCORE!!!!

Not only did it have the manual sunroof but a full cloth interior. Which was Perfect!!!! and.. and... rear head rests in the seats. It is black, which is the colour I wanted my interior to be. we pulled the sunroof out as a whole as well as the headliner.(we didnt have the dremel to cut the pieces out we needed). after that we pulled the passenger seat as I had already removed the drivers side so I could work with James on the headliner. Some idiot had smashed the rear window so glass was everywhere in the rear.

We removed the rear seats as well as the B and C trim. James already had the A pillar trim, arm rest, and the sunvisors at home. So now.. I have a more or less complete euro interior. I did not take the door panels because they were for manual crank windows. I will have to get some of that fabric dye to do my carpets and rear parcel shelf. and black plastic paint for the interior trim that needs to be done.

We also scored some trunk badges and badges from some random turbo charged cars..

a Volvo 740 Turbo Intercooler set..(it still had the turbo and intercooler.. I think I may need to go back and get the turbo. if its a garrett so I can have a 50 trim.) as well as a Turbo Badge from a Chrysler lebaron turbo

I left the bumpers since I like the US spec ones safety records.

but.. how much did Don spend today? well Thanks to James only.. $115.00

$95 for the interior

Also I spent $330 on some 8 hole wheels James was selling .. Hurray

I am now contemplating doing the rustoleum paint job on my car... so it is how I really want it to be... mmmm gloss black...

so.. who needs a decent palomino interior?

I had a good day at the u-pick too!

I went back to our yard to finish off the 500SEL Euro they have there....I got:

-Good condition brake booster
-The blower resistor coil, with ZERO rust on it at all, mint shape
-Rear Dome light
-Spare 14" bundt wheel
-Entire wiper assembly. Came out in one piece! Wipers blades, arms, linkage, motor. the whole thing.
-A spare front wheel hub
-Front passenger brake caliper in good shape
-One set of front wheel bearings in excellent shape
-Spindle locking nut
-random bolts and pieces
-A larger aux fan from the gasser models that spins perfectly

The car has just about nothing useful left on it, we were there last week also and cleaned the thing of parts (whole wheelbarrow full) I hope a W123 shows up there sometime....we could use some stuff for our 300D.

Total was $110. Not bad! Considering a brake booster is nearly $600!!! I got an excellent one for $13.50!!!!

If its nice next weekend (it was COOOLD today) I will go back and have a stab at getting the front window regulators....I already got all four motors. Otherwise...."oh well" to it.

nice!

I do need to get a new bottom frame for the passenger seat we pulled. I just remembered James saying that he had to leave the right rear mount in the car. I see why.. its rusted completely off!

Next time bring your cameras!!!

This is GREAT!! I just love reading stories like that, especially when there is success. Even MORE with pictures. cough, cough.

Euros are really hard to find in junkyards.

I saw a red '82 500SEC euro in a yard in Sacramento, last month, but it had been totally picked over, there was nothing left really

Way cool.

I know the feeling when you leave with hundreds if not thousands in part value for a bill or two.

About 3 months ago I came across a euro 380SE. I was sad to see it sitting there as the interior was near flawless (what was left) and the trim pieces told the story....that the car had been garage kept for a very long time. Body looked really good so it must have been something mechanical.

I was able to pull the leather seats front and back, the A, B, C pillar and hat tray, carpet, headliner, all the chrome plated aluminum trim pieces for the doors, window seals, roof rail ......etc etc. If I remember correctly the total was under $200.00.

Pictures!

and stuff

Pics from today

My W123 sedan next to Eagle-co94's 280CE

New Wheels on the 300D(better pics to come soon)

The Loot

that thing is soo rusted. I now understand where the rear sunroof drains are... The white thing against the tool chest is the sunroof panel with all of the parts still on it

Now bad for $95. I need to steam clean them and then redye the fabric section since the sun made it turn a slight purple. I also need to paint/dye certain portions of the interior. James gave me the black center arm rest... but. I like my current one with the storage compartment so I will try and dye that black.. I hope I can. I like my storage bin

that and I need to figure out how to re-install a sunroof properly.. not rip the shot headliner fabric out.. unbolt it, cut the drain tubes.. and such... ^_^

I almost brought home 3 more steel hubcaps to add to my garage wall as garage wall art.. but.. I didn't feel like going back for them.. oh well.. they weren't in the best of shape

I like those new wheels a LOT!!!

I certainly should, because several weeks ago I got the identical kind on Tire Rack for my car.

You made a good haul at the wreckers too.

I feel bad that you don't have your grille badge on your car, after all the work you did for us. They are beautiful, I really like them, I would like you to see how perfectly it fit on the SEC (with your suggestions and help)

You really ought to do another run of them when you can. You are good at this, the best. Maybe some t shirts too, if you are of a mind.

shirts too.. maan you guys want everything...

I would only do like some sort of collared shirt with the mercedesshop.com emblem and stuff over the left breast and maybe.. customize each with with owner name or forum name

there is an embroidery place next to my grocery store.. I could stop in and see what we could make.. shipping would be via UPS or some one reliable ..

I took my grill badges off... except the OBK one.. it will come off soon though.. I like a badge free grill now.. I can put them all on for car shows and such

What is incredible is that there is no rip in the driver's seat !

Your car's ext. color is interesting. What is it?
good score. !

you ought to convert your auto window regs to the manual and use the donor car's door lining and regs. Many people prefer that for one less electrical breakdown.
