Negative Battery Terminal Cable Ground
I have a 1982 300D. I need to replace the negative battery cable that connects to the body. Mine is all rusted and corroded Does anyone know what size the original cable is (gauge and length) and a good place to get one online?
Thanks |

neg cable
I cant say what the gauge is, but it is such a short cable, an can't see that gauge is all that important, as long as it is fairly beefy (1, 2, 4 gauge?). Match to to the approx. size of the pos cable (which is much longer) and you will be ok.
As to length, it is only about 10" or so...it goes from the neg. terminal which is next to the hood hinge, to the connecting bolt to the chassis, just beneath the hood hinge. For that cable, rather than trying to find OE, I think just getting a good manufactured cable from any auto parts store is sufficient...they are readily available with the proper fittings on each end. Good Luck, Mark

I had the same thing happen.Bought myself a new ground cable of about 24 inches from my local parts store, and its doing the job very nicely.Save yourself the trouble.

4 gauge. you should be able to go to any auto supply store and they should have negative battery cables.
