Heater works great, but...
after a few minutes, (sometimes), it starts blowing cold air. I adjust the thermostat wheel to cold and then back down to hot and it starts blowing hot again! Sometimes after a few minutes it will do it again?? It always blows hot air after I spin the wheel..but it can be annoying.
Any ideas as to what my problem is? Thanks. 1982 300td |

Could be a CCU problem, may need to pull and check for cold solders.

I would take a look at the monovalve and see if the diaphragm is torn before I tore into the CCU. It could be sticking closed.

Hot with a transition to cold is classic monovalve torn diaphragm. It allows some water through so it gets hot, but can't keep up enough flow to keep it hot with increased airflow. Check the monovalve....

Yes, much easier to check the mono valve. On the firewall passenger side, a hose or two, a plug also. Two screws, top comes off, inspect.

Especially if the hot air gets cold at higher speeds and gets hot again when you slow down.
