What suprises me is that neither El Paso Tool or Zdmak; both of who sell the Factory made Glow Plug Reamers have learned from Mercedes S o u r c e and taken the time to make up Instructions for the use of their product and lower there cost the $1 it would take to compete with MS.

Before I started making my version of a Glow Plug Reamer I bought one from El Paso Tool (they are actually made by Baum Tool but for some reason cost less from El Paso Tool). It comes with no instructions.

what is the different between the 314 and the 265 nozzle for Om602 / Om603?
Thanks
Peter

You put Grease in the Flutes (grooves) of the Reamer (to trap the Carbon that will be scraped off).
You rotate the reamer by hand clockwise while putting a little pressure on it. It will start cutting through the Carbon; as it goes in it will eventually reach the Threaded part of the Reamer. At that point you just screw the Reamer in as you would a Glow Plug until it bottom out.
After that, turn it as if you were removing a Glow Plug until you can pull it out.

For more sepcific info please see the DIY Section.

In the Factory Service Manual they do not say what Grease to use. I use Wheel Bearing Grease because that is what I have on hand. I tried Vasoline but at the temps during the day in S CA it is too runny.

Use what ever Hand works for you the best. I am right handed, if I tried to do the job with my left hand it would be harder for me.
I suppose the exception might be that it is easier to use your right hand on the #5 as the Oil Filter is there; on an 84 300D.
Also you sometimes need to put a Wrench on the Reamer. You will see when you do it.

I spoke to in Germany, it was an attempt to improve emissions. Many OM602s came from the factory with 265 nozzles. This was shortly after the time they stopped using the giant trap oxidizer.

They sell lots of other parts. I'm fairly certain Mercedes never made anything with "Taiwan" and nothing else embossed on it. Monark are definitely premium but they shouldn't sell for more than $20.00.

Bosio are from Italy and they're actually very good also but sell for more than that.

Im trying to contact on your mail and PM but dont sure if the mail is correct and if i can send you PM when im a new member. I want to buy 12 Monark nozzles if you still are selling them .

Anybody know if the 314 nozzle is the appropriate spray pattern for the prechamber on om617a? IDparts has the bosios and say they are OK but I forgot the 261-265-314 evolution sequence on these things. Somewhere I read that if you buy rebuilt injectors from MB they in fact come with 314 nozzles installed. But I don't know if that is for OM602 or om617 motor.

And whatever happened to C Sean Watts? Alien abduction?

In the pic is a section copied from the Manual. The difference between the 265 and the 314 Nozzle is the angle that the flat spot (Facete) on the side of the Nozzle Pintel (Needle) is cut to. It effects the idle.

C Sean Watts sort of dissapeared during that period when the Monark Nozzle supply dissapeared for a while. A Year or so before that there there was a period where He had some Health issues for several months. Also there were times He was out of the Country. That is all I can remember.

Thanks. The finns run 300hp thru stock nozzles so i just went with 261s and if i ever get around to a stroked pump they should be fine.

Good experience with Monark

I must chime in with my success with Monark diesel nozzles, both in my OM602A and Volvo-Penta MD2a. I was told to set the pop pressures to the factory Bosch specs for the factory part. Contact the company with a Bosch part number, they may have cross references to others like Stanadyne, Denso, Detroit, etc..
OM602A can consume over 80 gallons of fuel before dipstick shows like a diesel. I also use viton seals at the oil filter post, the black ones failed too early.
My 190DT is factory, the smooth and assertive acceleration always mesmerizes the road opponent into submission. The V.P. MD2a from 1968 is 15.5hp/2300rpm marine diesel, factory rings & valves and is now smoke free with the new injectors. Also it's oil stays cleaner too, and engine has same improvements as my road engine after install of Monark nozzles. Yes I could have had all of these injectors rebuilt with positive results.

Schaeffer X-200 15w-40 in car W/Dimple drain plug and OEM filtration.
