Electric window conversion to manual

I am looking for information related to converting my electric windows on my 1987 Mercedes Benz 300TD Wagon from electric to manual with a hand crank.

I am sure this has been covered in a previous thread but if not can anyone tell if/how one can convert from electric windows to manual? Your help would be greatly appreciated. I have had this vehicle for shot 6 months and I have really enjoyed owning it. The sunroof still works at nearly 30 years old!

Thank you in advance for your consideration of my issue. I am hoping to apply this knowledge to an older classic car I have been working on.

To go from power windows to a manual crank setup, you are going to have to change the window regulators, which are the lever assemblies that actually raise the windows. The manual versions will be quite different from those designed to be run by an electric motor.

The problem you are going to run into, in trying to do this, is that your wagon is a w124 chassis car, and no w124s were sold in North America with manual windows. All came with power windows standard on all four doors.

You will have to either look around for a car that was imported from overseas and is being parted, or look into special-ordering manual regulators through a dealer or another parts supplier. You will then also have to order the window cranks and any associated hardware.

The task is much simpler on a w123, as the 240d variant was sold with manual windows as standard equipment, so parts do come up from time to time.

SIXTO, I think that one was sold back in 2012.

I did a Google search......

Click on Images, and you get this.

Click on the picture and gets you to a web site.
Some I noted are made in China. Not sure of the quality, maybe have to buy a few of ea one for spares.

I did see a few on E-bay.

You may find a set in the yards, but you will look at a lot of them to find a set.

I did stumble across a set of Manual Winders on a Euro 300CD a couple years back. Now that was a rare one.
Sold them last year.

I was kidding, Charlie However, if the OP is serious about investing time and effort, I know someone with an '86 230TE with crank rear windows, black handles. I can put you in touch. It's an awful lot of wiring to add electric windows, though.
