Snow Machine

Has anybody seen this? Looks like a 126 on a truck chassis. No word on the motor.

Love that 300TD, I could see doing that. Hmmm, maybe a should.
How about take a 300TE wagon body that has a bad drivetrain, stick the 617 drivetrain I have in it with a 4x4 chassis.

I had plans of doing something like that years ago with an old Ford Bronco I had, checked a few Mercedes in the junk yards and couldn't find anything with a close to compatible wheelbase. I wanted the wheels in the wheel wells, not a body sitting on top of the wheels.

As for the TD build- I cannot find the article on building that one, but if I remember correctly,
the TD is on a nissan ex-cab PU frame. the drivetrain of those incorporates a divorced T-case, so the builder was able to keep the MBZ engine/ tranny and use the nissan driveshafts/ T case.

I beleive the difference in wheelbase was less than an inch.

If anyone knows where that build is posted, drop a link....

Its in the article that you linked to earlier:
"
We started with a 1984 K5 Diesel Blazer to get buy until I could build something more interesting. That something turned out to be a 1981 Mercedes Benz 300TD turbodiesel station wagon married to a 1984 Nissan 720 4x4 pickup chassis.
"
Thats why the tires fit so nice inside the fenders. I like my 300TE idea with the 617, divorced transfer case for a real 4x4 with a cast iron head diesel. COOL.
