Hard Hot Starts 1 more time
I've posted my issue previously, but hadn't really followed up. I have more info in place now, and anyone wanting a good riddle, but not inclined to blasting me for biofuels usage would do me a world of good potentially by checking out all the details from the following post at the infopop forum:

Maybe
Post your car and engine type and I will look at it. I'm tired of using my imagination.

Might try adjusting the rack damper bolt on the rear of the IP.

Thanks. It's a naturally aspirated 80(ish) 617 in a 300D. The car itself is an '84. Engine rebuilt about 60,000 miles ago, always easy starter. No rack dampener bolt to adjust on NA IP, but that's VERY much like how it acts.

Boy, almost new
Thanks for giving us engine description. In reading your other post, it surely sounds like a fuel problem. Have you loosened a hard line just before the injector to positively locate fuel. I has to have fuel at the injectors to start.

Yeah, that's the question. The instant it catches it runs great.
It feels like there's no fuel, mimics the symptoms of changing a filter and not purging. At this point I've purged and purged...... Soon as I have time I'm going to check timing and replace deliver valve seals at the same time. I'm also curious if anyone knows, if valves were out of adjustment enough if it could mimic these symptoms? But then, it idles great, not loping or rough. I adjusted them last about 10,000 miles ago. Another person suggested that timing might be retarted. I DO see some white smoke at startup that goes away later, but it smells a little rich. Nothing coolant-like, just diesel. |
