What a shame! At least you are OK and the car not totalled! Double whammy, is you can't claim the venison...

Sounds like you did well out of it, I've seen much worse on VS. deer incidents.
A few months back I did the same as you, cracked a headlight surround and punched a hole in the grille plastic, launched the bugger thru the air into the brush....thought I broke it's legs, but damned if I could find it after I stopped. 45 min.s after getting home it was fixed, I just had a few less wall decorations in the shop.

Last week my boss decided to play deer with his silverado...that one did a bit more damage...

I hit a deer once in my van and got stranded 100 milesfrom home in the middle of the night. I have been fortunate enough to not hit one in my MB, but the first drive in my new to me 300SD, I nearly hit a whole herd of them! Too bad three months or so after I got it I did hit a Nissan Titan that acted like a deer and pulled out in front of me. Luckily the Titan guy had insurance. The deer did not, so he was sentenced to death.

In Indiana and Michigan last I knew you could claim the deer if you hit it, but you have to call police and they come out and look at it (maybe verify you didn't shoot it) and you can take it home.

Most of the venison, unfortunately, rots. It is mighty good eating too....corn fed.

Remember if you ever report an accident like this clearly state the deer hit you. Gotta just a love the insurance companies. Whoever said crime does not pay obviously never owned one. In Canada a deer hit is a comprehensive claim not collision.

You just lived my nightmare!!! Deer are rampant 'round these parts, and I worry constantly!

Hate to be morbid, but any picks of the damage to your MB ... Like to see what might be in store ...

Damage

The damage really isn't that bad. It just drives me crazy because I love this car and I baby it all the time. It got one dent on the front right by the grill, dent and crack on the grill, and a cracked turn signal. Def. fixable!
