Wont start...running out of ideas

an 83 300sd. Has new(er) timing chain. Adjusted valves. Car was starting great and running excellent yesterday. Now wont start. Thought it was the fuel filter so I changed it...no change. Changed fuel pumps and Im getting fuel to the injectors. Still no change. Had to have battery charged because my cranking drained it. Still not starting.

Any ideas?

Anything to check? I removed the top of the injector line and was getting fuel there. When I remove the hose from the fuel pump to the fuel filter and crank, it squirts fuel. When I remove the hose from the fuel filter outlet to the IP there seems to be no fuel pumping through>

WEIRD WACKY STUFF

Car was running like a champ yesterday, now I cant move it!

try bleeding the air from the system. open the bolt on top of the can style fuel filter and push primer pump until it spill fuel. lock it up. try to restart it. don't keep cranking your car if it won't start. You'll burn out your starter.

Is it cold where you are, are you getting voltage at the glow plugs?

If it is cooler where you are it wouldn't hurt to keep the engine plugged in while you figure this out. Did anything happen from yesterday to today? You change anything? How much fuel do you have in your tank? Like Deano says, are your glow plugs functioning? Basics: Fuel, air, & heat...

Doesn't seem very weird to me at all.

You failed to completely fill the secondary with fresh fuel when you changed the filter.........because you didn't have a can of fuel available.

So, it will crank forever in an attempt to slowly fill the secondary filter........and then it has to force all the air from the IP.

Find your primer pump and have at it..........150 strokes or until you hand is bleeding..........whatever comes first.

try this

fill the fuel filter, remove the short line off the last injector and pump until fuel comes out and quickly put the line back and start.

if its really bad he can pressurize the tank and block the return line off and have it run into a bottle, that will get some fuel flowing.

If not running yet it never hurts to quickly verify the glow plug circuit is functional. Only takes a few minutes.

If your glows are working you can also start it and run it on wd 40 sprayed into the intake til it primes itself.
