Glow plug number sequence

I bet this has been asked a million times and I tried to search for it but found nothing. My #3 and 5 glow plugs need to be replaced. Is #1 near the front of the engine or at the back?

I'm guessing a mechanic told him.

Its still worth taking the time to go through the dieselgiant.com diagnostics and confirm which ones are bad or if there are any "marginal" ones that should be done too.

um, the loom connector for the glow plugs are numbered... that is most likely how he knows which ones are bad... dieselgiant's site tells you exactly how to ohm test the plugs at the harness.

oh, and #5 is a major PIA get the heater hose above it, moved out of the way, and put some rags in the gap between the IP and the block before you drop the nut down there.....
