just replaced the plastic fuel lines on my 51 320cdi as had starting probs due to sucking air through o rings, now my problem is bleeding the system......Wondered if anyone has "been there, done that, got the T shirt!!...lol, Thanks would be grateful for any advice. Cheers.

Not too many CDI's here having problems as most are still under warranty. Assuming with 200k you live in Europe.

Seems you still have a fuel/air leak somewhere.

Have you repalced the o-rings on the fuel filter bolt that came with the filter? How about the pre-filter o-ring?

I wasn't aware there were CDI's running around in the 1950's.

After I replaced my plastic line o-rings I had some trouble with fuel delivery as well. Other than making sure you hooked everything up the way it was before, I'd say keep on cranking to get all the air out. Watch the battery juice and give the starter frequent breaks.

Hi Dieseladdict, Thanks for your interest but 51 relates to the second half of 2001, here in the UK, 01 being the first half. 0 prefix first half of any given year, 5 prefix second half.

On my '98, I think the owners manual states how to purge the system of air after a filter change. Your's may also say what works for your car. I know for my truck, I have to cycle the ingition about 5 to 10 times (switch on, pause for 4 sec, switch off, repeat) when changing the filters or otherwise introducing air into the system. With HPCR, you should be able to crank it in 30 sec intervals with a couple minute pause in between and it should purge unlike a mech inj. Diesel.
