300CD fuel door lock vacuum actuator...not available...any ideas?
1983 300CD fuel door lock vacuum actuator. Mine has two elements...yes, the yellow/red line and the yellow/green line both plug into it. Mercedes part #123 800 2875, Performance part #80-050, both are no longer available. After a certain production line VIN, they went to the single element unit.
Has anyone had experience with this? Will the single element actuator work and will it bolt right in? (the single element unit is round...the double element unit is oblong and resembles the trunk lock actuator) |

It looks like the rod is specific to the actuator. You could use a finger from a rubber glove and glue it over the torn diaphram to save the actuator you have. I did that to my hatch actuator and it's still holding. There is also a chance you can get replacement diaphrams. There's a thread here somewhere with a part number. IIRC they can be ordered through a Bosch dealer.

Check with George Murphy, he sells rebuild kits for these pods and probably knows a lot about them. If you search on his name, his phone number will come up. He doesn't have a website.

How important are automatic door locks in a two-door car?

My mistake. I think I wasted my money on that speed reading course!!!
With the price of fuel, I suppose the fuel door lock could be very important. |

OK, here's the latest...
The part cannot be opened/repaired and it is not available anywhere. However, my chassis (1983 300CD) is double drilled...that is, it will accept two different types of vacuum element. So I ordered the other type, and if it fits, I'll let you know and will probably survey all the CD owners to find out if they're all double drilled. Mercedes-Benz does not even know this! |

I'd just block the vacuum tube. What are the chances of your tank being siphoned in this day and age? Most people probably don't even know how to siphon anymore.
Even if they do, they will be far more likely to be siphoning g@s. If they want to use some Diesel in their gas car, they can take all they want! |

Depends on where you live. Stealing my diesel isn't what I'd worry about. Vandals put stuff "into" tanks too.
