Only the best...

Since spring is coming up I find myself with a lot of fluids on hand, so I had them all line up to make a pretty picture. Only the best for my MB...

Oh and for Justing a picture of a SDL as requested!

Wasn't it decided that the Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF "Multi-Vehicle Formula" was not so good for our trannies? It smells a lot different than the original M1 stuff, and is no longer "Dexron III" certified. We stopped using it when we couldn't get the original stuff anymore....

Nice pic of the car there.

Lets see a picture of the infamous Jetta!

Pfff that bottle of M1 ATF is at least 2-3+ years old, I just took it off the shelf. Amsoil or Febi is going in next.

No the Jetta doesn't get a picture, well maybe at some point...when I am crushing it with a D8.

What wheels are those that you have on your SDL....I like those. What car are they from/what size?

Yeah I like them, except they don't make them anymore. They were made by AT and were sold on Tirerack, so if I curb one I am SOL.

They are 16's, I forget the offset and width, I think 7.5-8 inches. I have a brand new set of tires sitting in the basement waiting to go on. Thats why I didn't bother putting the junk wheels on it this year, I don't care if those tires flat spot.

The new shoes are 225/55/16 in front, 245/50/16 out back. IE as big as you can go on a W126 without rubbing. The downside of the new shoes is that they are directional and staggared so I can't rotate them. I realized how dumb that was after I ordered them. So I'll be needing new tires in like 15k miles.

I'd prefer 18in AMG's but I don't want my teeth jared out, and the rears would rub. To run 18's on a W126 you really need SLS, and even then its tight.

Did it make your speedo innacurate? Or is the overall wheel diameter the same? Around here its best to have nice thick rubber on your rims to protect from the pot holes. Low profile tires are toast around here.

Dexron III is a trademark name that is no longer being licensed for use. It can still be DIII compatible even if it does not say so on the bottle anymore.

The overall diamater is the same, so the speedo is dead nuts.

If I lived in MI would would probably drive a Land Cruiser or G class to get through all those legendary pot holes.

Those would be pretty good, but you'd probably be best off in a Unimog. Our roads can be very challenging:

The valvoline Dexron VI synthetic we've been using says "Dexron III certified" on it....the M1 stuff recommends using their dino Dexron III stuff if you need it to meet Dexron III specs. Which made us not want to use it anymore.

I don't even remember the last time I changed mine, probably 2 years 15kish miles ago. I'm not changing it again the trans is on its deathbead. NFW am I going to put $60 worth of fluid into a trans that will probably be rebuilt in the next 20k miles.

The valvoline stuff is only about $4.70/qt....we got it during a 50% off sale....so we got 24 quarts for the price of 12! I've had the fluid I'll be using this May since last August.

Yup, in fact they do specifically say Mobil1 is still DexIII compatible here:
