Sunroof switch smoking....

79 300D.
Sunroof fuse was removed, to make sure the motor didn't die when the sunroof was open. Car came like this when I bought it.
I put a fuse in, and the sunroof opened and closed fine.
On the second try, I noticed a small plume of smoke coming from the top of the switch. I closed the sunroof at that point.

I tried it again, 2 more times, and the sunroof still opened and closed.

Now the sunroof will not open, but the fuse is not blown.

Does this mean I need a new switch ?

Anyone have instructions on how to do this ?
I'm going to have to take the whole console apart....ugh.

Thanks,
Marty
