I am new to this so where exactly would i find the idle stop adjustment?

for the vacuum line comparison there is a sticky at the top of the page...

how many RPMs... is the engine... turning... at... idle?

Let me take a picture of mine and see if I cant post it here for you.
It's possible that this could be your problem. I had a similar problem, not shutting down with the key for several seconds, but mine did shut down immediately with the stop lever, so mine was a vacuum leak.

Ok I'm back. Let me get these pics loaded and you see where your idle adjustment is.

Let's see if this works.

Look at where my finger is pointing. There is a bolt that looks like a screw on top with a locknut at the base of it. You must loosen this locknut, and yes, it's a pain to get to. If backing off on the idle cures your problem, then you need to make adjustments to your linkage that will shut down the engine promptly while holding a steady idle. I have mine set at about 850 RPM so I can use my AC in the car without lugging the engine.

Post back after you look into this. Not shutting off easily with the stop lever concerns me too. Shutting off with the key is a little better because this will most often be related to a vacuum leak issue.

Any luck with your stop lever?
